Leeds Grenville Hoarding Coalition

Project Structure Release

July 29, 2026

We have recently developed a proposed project structure for the Leeds Grenville Hoarding Coalition (LGHC)!

The LGHC is a multi-sector coalition of professionals across housing, mental health, healthcare, emergency services, social services and community partners, working together to address the growing andcomplex needs of individuals living with hoarding disorder.

Who We Are

A multi-sector coalition of professionals across housing, mental health, healthcare, emergency services, social services and community partners. Working together to address the growing and complex needs of individuals living with hoarding disorder

Why This Matters

  • Hoarding Disorder is a complex mental health condition with significant impacts:

  • 5-8% of the population may be affected

  • Increased risk of eviction, homelessness, fire hazards, and health concerns

  • High use of emergency, housing, and healthcare resources

  • Significant emotional and system strain on individuals, families and service providers.

In Leeds & Grenville, we are seeing:

  • Increased case complexitity across sectors

  • Limited coordinated supports

  • Reactive vs preventative system responses

  • Growing demand without sustainable resources

What We Are Doing

The Coalition has taken early, collaborative steps to create system alignment:

  • Cross-sector collaboration and table development

  • Data collection and shared community insights

  • Municipal-wide training initiatives

  • Development of consistent language and approaches

  • Exploration of standardized assessment tools

  • Identification of system gaps and service barriers

What We Are Seeing

  • Individuals falling through system gaps

  • Services focused on crisis response vs. treatment and recovery

  • High costs associated with repeated interventions

  • Frontline providers carrying significant emotional and operational burden

  • Lack of sustainable, coordinated pathways for support

Where We Are Going

We are working toward:

  • Coordinated system navigation

  • Specialized hoarding supports and treatment pathways

  • Group programming and recovery-based interventions

  • Sustainable funding models

  • Continued data collection and evaluation

  • Cross-sector training and capacity building

What We Need

We are seeking support and partnership in:

  • Recognition of hoarding disorder as a complex, multi-sector issue

  • Opportunities for funding and pilot program development

  • Support for integrated service models

  • Engagement in ongoing dialogue to strengthen community response

Our Commitment

This Coalition is committed to ensuring that individuals in our community are met with:

Dignity. Safety. Support. And a path toward recovery.
